I was called out and they handed me a chef hat and an apron with my name! I was thrilled and turned back to give a smile to my lil one and DH, My lil one was laughing out already seeing me wearing big cap! And my DH & mom wished me luck! :D
Before getting into the kitchen i was asked to pose for few snaps :P and taadaa the moment Creeped..
Got into the kitchen.. and I was super happy, as i was going to make Cheesy corn Cutlets [c3] My ingredients was laid in bowls and everything was set and i was good to go! There were chefs all around working.. and one chef was near to supervise me.. He started off the conversation with what was the dish about and where I’m from etc.. His instruction was to prepare a minimum of 25 cutlets, as they have placed placards “Dish for the Evening - Cheesy Corn Cutlet” priced at Rs. 120 all over the tables outside for the customers to taste and vote! I was given an hour to complete.. So, quickly I grabbed a bowl to start of with the prep and mixed all the ingredients for the cutlet and shaped all of them evenly and freezed it in batches to retain their shape while frying. Amidst all this a candid photographer was all over the place shooting pictures of the process and the end dish! :D Thanks to him..
Then I was asked to fry first few for to present it to the judges for tasting! I quickly did and gave a simple plating and presented it to the judges! They were happy with the taste and outcome and gave positive comments about the dish! Though i did not make it to the finale It was a learning experience to see how the whole kitchen works, I did notice the pre-planned items in the kitchen which were kept ready to cook and serve as and when the order strikes to serve without any delay, The boards where orders that come in & stock bought and item's prep'd & stored lists which was stuck.. I noticed many things of how orderly a professional kitchen works! But nevertheless it was a great experience to cherish as this is my 1st attempt in a cookery competition!
Voilà!!! see you soon in my next post! :)
