Ingredients:
Swiss Roll [store bought]- 1 pack - Any flavour of your choice [it had about 8 pieces in the box.]
China grass/Agar Agar – 15 grams
Milk – 1 cup
Sugar – 2 tbsp
Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
Badam Paste - 2 tbsp [Soak 10 - 15 badam in warm water, peel the skin & grind into paste]
Food color - a pinch [as per one's choice]
Cling flim – As needed to line the bowl
Method:
- Take a bowl and line it with cling film inside as well leave some to hang out which will help you to remove the pudding from the bowl to serve.
- Now tightly place a layer of swiss rolls in the bowl and place it in the freezer.
- Soak agar agar 15 grams 1/2 cup of milk for 10- 12 minutes add the other 1/2 cup of milk to it and bring it to boil until the agar agar dissolves completely. Now add Badam paste , Keep stirring and allow it to boil in medium flame for 3-4 mins.
- Now add sugar, Vanilla essence Stir and mix further and remove from the heat and let it cool completely.
- Add in a pinch of desired food color to it, i used green color to go with my strawberry flavoured swiss roll. :P
- Take the bowl out of the freezer and pour the milk and agar agar mixture gently over the swiss roll layer, While pouring the milk some swiss roll may rise and come out of place, don't worry, keep pouring in the milk and without giving it a shake gently place it back into the freezer for 1 - 1/2 hours and later shift it to the refrigerator.
This Pudding tastes best when served chill!
Sorry! couldn't click a pic after inverting it into the plate, Because Mr.Hubby scooped in major portion of the pudding to his stop his mid night hunger pangs! :( :D
Notes:
Agar Agar /China grass is available in Major supermarkets & nut n spices stores across Chennai.
You can use Gelatine instead of agar agar, make sure to soak in hot water.
