The name might sound very light and make you think that it is an usual recipe! Though it is.. But! It needs alot of patience and practice. :) The technique of spreading the big ball of dough into a round thick roti by just giving it a slight press in between both your palm with a pace is the trick to make a Perfect Arisi Maavu Roti.
The Flour used to make these roti is the Coarse powder we get after sifting for the idiyappam flour, At my mom's place they soak the raw rice and spread it in a cotton cloth & dry it under the fan until the water is evaporated. later they grind the rice flour in the near by mill and dry roast it in a heavy bottom pan at home to remove the moisture, which in order helps in storing it for months together in an air-tight box. Also this roti is famous among the southern tamilnadu muslims & Sri lankans,

Cooking time: 10 mins for 1 roti in slow fire
Makes 3 medium sized roti
Ingredients:
Kappi Maavu/Rice Flour - 1 cup [**coarse form powder that is got after sifting for idiyappam]
Water - as required
Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
Salt as required
Method:
- In a bowl add all the above mentioned ingredients and knead into soft dough.
- take a part of the dough and Follow the below video instruction to spread out the roti.
- For newbies who find the video instruction too technical, take a milk cover wash and cut it into half. apply some oil to it and place the dough and spread it with fingers.
- Heat the tawa on high flame, place the roti and slow down the flame and allow it to cook on slow flame for 5 mins per side, this helps in cooking the roti evenly.
- Once its cooked on one side, flip it and cook on the other side. when you see brown spots transfer the cooked roti to plate and enjoy!
The texture of this roti will be hard & cripsy on the outside and little soft on the inside.
